Co-published by West Space and Para/Site Art Space (Hong Kong),
Space Traffic: artist-run spaces beyond a local context chronicles Space Traffic, an international artist-run space
symposium held in Hong Kong, December 2001.
It acts as a document tracking
the issues involved in operating artist-run organsiations in different
parts of the world. Speakers from 17 organizations from 12 cities presented
papers and performances at the two day conference.
The publication contains these papers as well as commentary and critique
on the symposium. Space Traffic acts as a document that tracks the issues
involved in operating artist-run organsiations in different parts of
the world. It provides a sense of the depth of commitment, along side
the challenges that artists face in running their own spaces. "It can
act as a resource for anyone who believes cultural activity can make
a difference to our and others' social (and political) circumstances." Brett
Jones (from Space Traffic Introduction)
