Organisation For Cultural Exchange and DISAGREEMENT (OCED) |
Part of the Organisation For Cultural Exchange and DISAGREEMENT (OCED) Project
Each artist and the project co-ordinators have written a text for this publication that draws some of the threads together from the project, while contrasting the similarities and differences between art systems in Australia and Canada.
All the artists involved in this project have practices that involve
critical and/or reflexive writing. Writing represents a crucial outcome
for this project in the form of a publication that explores processes
of institutionalisation, bureaucratisation and the normalisation of art
practice. This includes debate on how artists are to negotiate the absence,
and impossibility of an avant-garde, while continuing to reference it
and depend on its legacy.
This OCED publication adds to West Space’s commitment
to documenting ideas and issues facing contemporary practitioners.
