Gating
Gating features new compositions by 14 Australian sound artists, accompanied by a beautifully designed 24 page booklet of full colour reproductions of participating visual artists' work.
Gating was a visual and sound exhibition held at West Space in May 2002 and at the Australia Council Foyer (Sydney) in October 2002. The request for work encouraged participants to engage in compositional and poetic responses to the sound technology process of sound-gating. All the compositions feature significant sections of silence integrated into the pieces. The compositions were played in the gallery space in four layers.
