Urban Fabric is a conceptual photographic installation of Melbourne’s mid-twentieth century corporate architectural facades that explores the relationship between architecture, and textile design. The exhibition speculates on the potential of photography’s role in the construction and representation of the city, in particular our city, Melbourne.

The installation is further activated through its establishment as a meeting room in which various architects, artists, designers and craft practitioners will convene to discuss their work and the role that the texture of the built environment plays in their engagement with and understanding of the city. Urban Fabric features graphics by AM Editions.

Peta Carlin studied architecture prior to pursuing architectural ideas through the construction of images. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the Spatial Information Architecture Laboratory at RMIT University, where she tutors in architecture.
