“The Qualms”

The Qualms is the product of the collaboration between Brigit Ryan and Brodie Vera Wood. Ryan and Wood have combined their multi-faceted practices in an exploration of their personal investments in material objects, and their emotional and psychological relationships with design. The works have been created in conversation with one another, fitting together even where they must be forced. Each piece functions as a response to its siblings – fitting itself into gaps, solving problems created by mutual un-functionality. Both artists have a fine art background and are increasingly interested in the seductive forces of design.

Brodie Vera Wood is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Melbourne. Wood completed her BFA in Drawing at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2012 and is currently completing a Pre-Apprenticeship in Furniture Making at Box Hill Tafe Institute.

Brigit Ryan is a Melbourne-based artist and designer. She completed a BFA in Drawing at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2012 and a B Design in Fashion at RMIT in 2009.
