29 July → 20 Aug 2011

Taree Mackenzie creates abstract videos that play with the viewer’s perception in relation to the video image. Her installation explores how lighting and framing can be used to create simple illusions and tricks. Mackenzie’s videos are the result of manual experimentation in front of a camera. However, the prevalence of digital effects used in most video work today, often causes viewers to assume that her works are also digitally generated. Using real time video projection, the exhibited video will be seen alongside the sets used to generate it. In doing so, the artist intends to draw out the links between the work in its final state and the process of production.

Taree Mackenzie completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2008. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions both in Melbourne and interstate.
