Symbiosis & West Space present Symbiosis Listening Focus .03
M Rösner, Joe Talia and Simon Hampson
20 Jan → 20 Jan 2007

New music performances.

M. Rösner is a sound artist from rural Western Australia. Being based in secluded isolation has allowed Rösner to pursue an organic take on electronic music, using acoustic instruments and field recordings as the sound source in the majority of his works. Yet Rösner is still firmly entrenched in the technological age, his work as an industrial designer allows the influence of architecture, physics and modernism to creep into his sound world.

Matt Rösner has released records on Room40, Apestaartje, 12x50 and Meupe. As well as various compilation releases, most notably Ai records 2004 compilation, ‘Station’.

“By processing acoustic instruments and analogue electronics through a precise production method, Australian sound artist M. Rösner has generated music with a language all its own”
– Sean Rabin The Weekend Australian July 2005

“Experimental music has never been so seductive and soothing, Alluvial is definitely something special.”
– Bob Baker Fish Inpress Magazine July 2005

Matt will be joined by two Melbourne artists. Joe Talia, a Melbourne artist who released his debut album in 2006, “In, Exterior” (Holding Pattern), and Simon Hampson.

You can also catch Matt launching ‘Morning Tones’ on Sunday 21st Jan, 2007 @ East Brunswick Club, with Robin Fox and Shoeb Ahmad (ACT). Doors open at 8pm.

Symbiosis Listening Focus. Encouraging the audience to engage with the sound textures and providing the environment to absorb some very special performances.
