“Swaddle Me”

Swaddle me comprises of sculptural works that utilise the natural flaws of the materials with which they are constructed, to simultaneously realise the camp-ness of each object, and deride its legitimacy. The sculptures, constructed from either clay or dirt, take on forms of personal importance that comfort, restrict, and problematise their maker.
Nicholas Smith is a Melbourne-based artist. He graduated with an Honours degree in Fine Art from Monash University in 2013. Recent solo exhibitions include: Feint understanding, Tcb Art Inc, and Searching for Something, Mildura Palimpsest Biennale #10. Nicholas will be exhibiting at Firstdraft in August 2017.
