Performance in Progress is a live works project linking local, interstate and international early career artists working in performance to explore and develop new ideas without the framework of a formal exhibition. Eliza Dyball, Ellen Davies and Parallel Park were resident artists at West Space during March, 2018 alongside Edward Thomasson whilst he worked towards Rhythm and Blues with the Festival of Live Art.

Parallel Park is the collaborative art practice between Brisbane-based artists Holly Bates and Tayla Jay Haggarty. The focus of the collaboration is concentrated on playfully exploring the external influences that impact lesbian sexuality and the intricacies of the artist’s romantic relationship. The collaboration heavily employs play as process, which takes form through found objects, performance, video and installation.

Eliza Dyball completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2010. Selected exhibitions / projects include iambic pentameter, TCB art Inc, Melbourne, 2016; Echo (with Ash Kilmartin), Melbourne’s Living Museum of the West, 2015 and Feeling Material, C3, Melbourne, 2015. Dyball is a previous Gertrude Contemporary studio artist, 2012-2014.

Ellen Davies is an independent performer and choreographer. She has presented her own works at Testing Grounds in the Melbourne Fringe Festival, at Counihan Gallery Brunswick, TCB Art Inc, and Sister Gallery Adelaide. Ellen has written about her practice for This Container, The Countess Report, and Dancehouse.
