“Out Hear in the CBD”

Out Hear was started by music-artist Dale Gorfinkel to encourage a culture of music, sound and listening experiences in outdoor spaces. In the search for fresh contexts for engagement with sound and place, Dale has presented events in bush and urban settings, and odd in-between spaces. Some events have simply involved being led on a soundwalk during which the sounds serendipitously unfold. Many Out Hear events also feature musicians and artists who have the refreshing and joyfully challenging task of creating something that resonates in these specific environments.

As part of West Space’s Time Has Come Today artistic program of live art events, Dale will present the following sound art events at and around West Space. This project has been generously supported by The Australia Council for the Arts.

Prophets
Saturday 10th March 4–5pm, West Space
Prophets (Syd/Melb) are the originators of the stylefree movement. A vibrant band like no other. Masks and wonderment, unique sounds and hard hitting grooves with 4 saxes, percussion, balafon, electric bass, mpc. Featuring Birdbrain, Ctrl-Alt Man, Groovy G, Finntaz, Ah!Puch! & many more.
Prophets will hit the streets outside West Space on Saturday 10th March.
They will also be busking at the Moomba Festival on Sunday 11th March 11.45am–12.45pm and Monday 12th March 3.30pm–4.30pm.

Thursday Night Adventures with Out Hear
Meet at West Space for a surprising journey of soundwalks and performances in the CBD. Featuring Dale Gorfinkel on his radically modified trumpet and other contraptions. Plus guest artists, buskers, cars, birds, trams, feet and perhaps rubbish trucks. Dates: Thursdays March 15, 22, 29 & April 5.
Time: 6.30pm (for approximately 1-hour).
Cost: $10 suggested donation
