Present tense
probes the tension between two ways of experiencing phenomena. One way is to experience things happening in a linear, sequential fashion across time; another is to experience things happening simultaneously, where time and space subside.

Present tense is an assemblage of thirty functioning but dismantled transistor radios, speakers and aerials that can be activated by the viewer. The radios are set to different radio stations and operate simultaneously when switched on. It’s a large ungainly device activated by a foot switch. It might give you a headache.

Oscar Ferreiro is a Melbourne-based artist who is currently undertaking a Master of Fine Art at RMIT. For more visit www.no-thing.com.
