“One Ring To Rule Them All”

Like an ancient mandala, only, dedicated to worshiping a contemporary god, One Ring To Rule Them All hovers in space, almost weightless in its serene circularity.

On closer inspection its structure becomes apparent, mesmerising and meditative in its repetition, yet somehow subverting and undermining its building blocks, transforming how we commonly understand them.

Michael Brennan is a Melbourne-based artist with an exhibition history that includes solo shows in Melbourne and Sydney as well as exhibiting as a finalist in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship in 2005, the Metro 5 Art Prize in 2006, and the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2007.

Michael Brennan is also co-founding Director of TROCADERO Art Space in Melbourne and is represented by Libby Edwards Galleries in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
