Ghostwork

Ghostwork is a series of low-relief sculptural panels that recreate images from old family photographs.

There are no known stories attached to these images.

Thousands of black tacks are used to nail remnants of old handicrafts onto white panels.

Through a process of retrieval and reconstruction, this work attempts to articulate a sense of dislocation, absence and loss.

Susan Wirth most recently exhibited in group shows, Resistance is Useless, First Draft (2003) and produced solo performances and installations at Conical Gallery (2003).

Photography by Christian Capurro.
