You will grow to love me discusses the value of the hand made object in a contemporary consumer society. Presented from a child?s perspective, the work features an oversized handcrafted soft toy placed next to a large blown glass babies? bottle that embodies a projected image of a 4-wheel drive. As the projection bounces back and forth through the glass, it becomes translucent and creates a mesmerizing optical illusion like that of a hologram - vague and subtle but reminiscent our constant exposure to seductive images of commodities.

Geneine Honey completed honours in fine art at RMIT in 2000. She has since exhibited extensively in both solo and group exhibitions in Melbourne. Geneine recently exhibited at Canberra Contemporary Art Space as part of the 2004 Metis festival. Her primary practice is in the medium of video, and she has spent the past four years honing skills with projections.
