Our last presentation in the West Space Window for 2023 is Five Repeats Only by Bryan Foong.
Five Repeats Only is a video-poem of five lines drawing on a commonly encountered phrasing used by the Australian Pharmaceuticals Benefit Scheme. As the work draws to an inevitable endpoint of depletion, it serves as an existential lament and a trigger to consider past, present and future bodies, hopes and sensations.
West Space Window is supported by City of Yarra and viewable during all Collingwood Yards open hours.
Bryan Foong (he/they) is an artist of Chinese-Malaysian heritage living and working in Canberra on unceded Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. Bryan's practice brings together their background in clinical medicine with contemporary bio-politics, queer poetics and visual culture. Their work often takes the form of installations combining painting, writing, moving image, sound and reading performances to provoke ideas of power, pathology and desire.
