Dust My Broom
Camilla Hannan
19 Nov → 4 Dec 2005

The creak of a floorboard, the jangle of coins and the brush of fabric against skin. It’s a dark house in the middle of the night and the line between imagined and real is no longer distinct.

Dust My Broom continues Camilla Hannan’s investigations into sound spatialisation and the abstraction of sonic narratives. This includes notions of foreground and background, the reproduction of the ‘natural’ listening environment and the sonic displacement of the listener. Her source material comes from location recordings, which are digitally processed into textural soundscapes.

Camilla Hannan is a sound designer, installation artist, composer and performer.

Her experimental soundscape works have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Most recently, this has included Drift Experimental Sound Art Festival, Glasgow Scotland; the DLux d>Art 04 sound programme, Sydney; and exhibitions at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces and bus Gallery in Melbourne.

Camilla has performed at music festivals around Australia, most recently as part of Liquid Architecture 5 at the Planetarium.

She is currently working on her debut CD More Songs About Factories, due for completion early 2005.
