Dreams that I've thrown down the hall

Softy softy dances the wind through the sky,
A gentle dance preformed on the edge of your mind.
You know your time here and it has been, eh,
And to say the least; who really cares.
For we sit in our house rolling dreams down the hall,
Whilst outside around us everything falls.

Grant Nimmo's practice is part subtle social commentary on the frustrating state of contemporary art, politics and cultural production, part humorous melancholic tales from his life. Celebrating contemporary anxiety, self reflection and cultural detachment, Nimmo's practice is largely painting based but spreads through various windows into sculptural forms, publications and print.

He completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Monash University in 2002 and a Postgraduate Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne in 2005. Since then he has participated in a number of group exhibitions in Australia and internationally. Recently presenting his work at the 2013 Art-Athina International Art Fair, Athens, Greece, The 2012 Melbourne Art Fair, Melbourne Australia and the 2011 Korean International Art Fair in Seoul, Korea. Grant has also held solo exhibitions in Australia with Anna Pappas Gallery Melbourne and Evan Hughes Gallery Sydney. He has shown across Melbourne at various artist-run initiatives and contemporary art spaces including West Space, ChapterHouse Lane, Gertrude Contemporary, TCB Art Inc. Seventh and Rearview Gallery.
