Deferring Gesture
Michael Georgetti
28 Mar → 19 Apr 2008

In Deferring Gesture the animated and human qualities have developed by creating a union of painting, film and objects, amplifying the mediating role of the brush that lies between the artist and the canvas. Georgetti has used parallel processes to emphasise the disconnection between the maker and the artwork in painting. The process in this work is used in a provisional way to address the inflexible nature of the stretched canvas.

Michael Georgetti is a Melbourne-based artist. He completed his Masters of Fine Art (painting) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in 2007. His practice is based in painting, installation, film and sculpture.
