Christine Morrow

Kraft Work
14 - 29 April 2006
Gallery 2

Kraft Work uses vegemite as a painting substance applied directly to interior surfaces to produce monochromatic images of the Australian landscape. The technique deliberately mistranslates artistic concepts such as fresco and sepia and proposes a uniquely Australian painting idiom, mired in nostalgia.

Christine Morrow lives and works in Melbourne. Her activities encompass fine art practice, writing and curating. She is one of the founders and committee- members of Blindside artist-run-space. Morrow was educated in Brisbane and relocated to Melbourne in 2001. She has undertaken studio residencies at 200 Gertrude Street, Paris, Rome, London and Scotland. Morrow's work has been shown in the Moet & Chandon touring exhibition, the Adelaide Biennial and at Australian Centre for Contemporary Art as part of the exhibition New '03.
