Elissa Sadgrove is interested in an analytically playful response to concept and site, resulting in the creation of idiosyncratic symbols. She highlights the relationship between symbols and signs through the use of signage materials and simple graphics.

Recent solo exhibitions include Clearmark (2003) at Conical and Westsign (2002) at West Space Inc. Group exhibitions include Storyboard (2003), a collaboration with Helen Gibbins at West Space Inc and Imaging the Apple (2004), a touring exhibition curated by John R. Neeson. She was Highly Commended for the 2004 John Leslie Art Prize and was acquired by the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery during the 2003 New Work on Paper exhibition. In 2003 she was an artist-in-residence at Bundanon in NSW.
