Ah poor bird
Eleanna Elliott
8 Sept → 23 Sept 2006

Snow has just fallen, on a small forest. Footsteps mark a trail, yet there is no sign of life. The atmosphere is errie. A lone bird sits high in one of the trees. The trees are eerily identical. It could be a scene from a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, yet so lonely as though no one has read the story for so long.

Ah poor bird is a mixed media installation completely constructed out of artificial materials. Such fabrication undermines the beauty of the realism – the arcadic vision. The footsteps disturb an otherwise ‘perfect’ scene, forever ruining it’s post card perfection.

Eleanna Elliott is a Melbourne-based artist. She completed her B.A. of Visual Arts at Victorian College of the Arts in 2002. She has exhibited at 200 Gertrude Street, Conical Gallery and VCA Gallery. In 2003, Eleanna received the Bauldersson Travelling Schlorship to travel overseas. Ah Poor Bird is her first show since returning.
