West Space has decided to make our 14th annual fundraising exhibition, A4 Art, a very special one this year. Subtitled Reunion, A4 Art 2006 involves an invited selection of artists who have been involved with West Space over the years through exhibitions and publications. The list of artists involved in A4 Art 2006 – Reunion is a veritable ‘who’s who’ of some of Australia’s most exciting and established contemporary visual artists. These artists have generously donated works to West Space, available for purchase from 5pm on Thursday 7 December.

A4 Art 2006 – Reunion features works by Damiano Bertoli, Louisa Bufardeci, Christian Capurro, Domenico DeClario, Janenne Eaton, Juan Ford, Michael Graeve, Christopher Koller, Tom Nicholson, Rosslynd Piggott, Patrick Pound, Sangeeta Sandrasegar, Van Sowerwine, Peter Tyndall and many more artists.

This is a rare chance to collect innovative artworks by some of Australia’s best known artists at a fraction of the price they would be available for commercially or on the secondary market. This is the perfect opportunity to either begin collecting contemporary art in a fun and highly accessible context or to acquire new noteworthy pieces for your art collection.

Many of these artists had their first solo exhibitions with West Space, while other established artists presented new developments in their practice at West Space. These artists have brought something unique to West Space and influenced its growth and directions. They have helped to make West Space what it is.

In keeping with the idea of reunion, the invited artists have selected other artists, with whom they would like to celebrate unions or reunions. These artists have in turn been invited to contribute works to A4 Art 2006 – Reunion. In this way West Space hopes to emphasise the importance of artist peer networks to artist-run initiatives and the industry in general.

In keeping with the festive theme, there will be a barbeque in the ‘backyard’ and limited edition West Space wine available for purchase. The wine will be a memento of the evening, a way to support West Space, and a device to assist visitors in their ‘reunions’ with old friends.

An advance preview to purchase works is available on Thursday 7 December from 5 – 6:30pm for $25 entry – an exclusive viewing of the works and complimentary champagne. From 6:30pm the event is free and open to the public.
